For Henry

For Henry is an instrumental piece I wrote for my nephew, Henry.

For many years he had been expressing his dissatisfaction that younger sister Charlotte had had a piece written for her when she was born. ‘Carlotta’, appears on Day Of The Lone Wolf, and was released way back in 2006, so Henry had all but given up on me. Having written and recorded the piano part at my mum’s house on her 1903 Broadwood piano, the instrument I learned on, I enlisted long time collaborator Ruth Gottlieb (Tindersticks, Ryan Adams) to perform the violins, which we recorded in Brighton. Once again Brighton based artist Tula Parker provides the beautiful artwork and images.
